Fox News Report - Shale: The New American Gold Rush

The Marcellus Shale is creating jobs in depressed areas of Pennsylvania

Fox News reporter James Rosen and crew recently visited a Chief Oil & Gas drilling site in Lycoming County to tape the broadcast “On the Job Hunt”.  The program highlighted the economic impact natural gas development has had on the local area.

The Fox News report cites the creation of 29,000 jobs in 2009 related to the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania as evidence of economic impact.

The news crew interviewed Chief employees as well as local business representatives.

Dave Roberts, Drilling Manager for Chief Oil & Gas commented “It’s going to bring a lot of jobs. Not just on this rig. It requires a lot of services companies to perform the operations that we do out here.”
